Mrs. Saenz, 3rd Grade
HOMEWORK
Your child WILL have homework in 3rd grade. How much they have will depend on how wisely they use their time during the day. I do NOT like to give homework on Fridays, but on occasion they may have some! J It is expected that your child turn in their homework daily and on time.
PLANNER
Please look through your child’s planner EVERY night.
WEEKLY FOLDER
A separate folder will come home every Monday. Please review everything in this folder with your child and return ONLY papers with “Correct and Return” or with a “Parent Signature” note. Sign on the inside cover and return the folder to school the next day.
ABSENT FROM SCHOOL
Please make every attempt possible to arrange for homework to be picked up or sent home if your child misses school. We cover a LOT throughout the day and your child will become overwhelmed coming back to school with make-up work on their desk and trying to keep up with daily classwork and homework.
LATE HOMEWORK POLICY
Any late homework assignment will result in a loss of recess to complete the work in its entirety as well as a 10% deduction in the grade. Three total late works in a week=a detention.
Policies and Managment
GRADING IN GRADE 3
Your child will receive LETTER GRADES this year. I follow a 90/80/70/60 scale. TigerView is an excellent online tracking tool for parents to keep up with their child’s grades. You received information about logging into TigerView in your teacher assignment letter.
OUR CLASSROOM SYSTEM
ALL students will start each day on GREEN (*Ready to Learn)
*Students will be able to move up to PURPLE (*Excellent Effort) Or PINK (*Super Student)
*If a child is not meeting classroom expectations, I will remind them of what is expected in the classroom. If I have to remind a child again, they will move their magnet down to YELLOW (*Make Better Choices).
*If the child’s actions do not improve they will move to RED (*Teacher Choice/Parent Contact) This will be documented in your child’s agenda. A parent signature is required if behaviors are documented. It is the student’s responsibility to show you their agenda and obtain a signature. No signature=no recess the following day. If a child has more than one RED day in a week, a child will lose Fun Friday for that week.
*A principal referral may result with reoccurring days OR severe behaviors.
